What is Pick 4?
Pick 4, known in Connecticut as Play4, is a twice-daily lottery that follows a popular format. All you need to do is select four digits between 0 and 9, choose your play type and wait for the next draw. Go to the
How to Play page for a full guide on what you need to do.

The Day drawing takes place at 1:57 PM ET, followed by the Night drawing at 10:29 PM ET.
What time do ticket sales close?
Ticket sales close at 1:45 PM ET for the Day draw, and 10:20 PM ET for the Night draw. Wagering reopens a few minutes after each drawing.
How much does it cost to play?
You can wager as much as you want on Pick 4, from a minimum of $0.50 to a maximum of $5. Playing the Wild Ball doubles the cost of your play.
What is the Wild Ball?
The Wild Ball is the fifth number selected in each draw. It can be used to replace any of the first four digits, so it significantly improves your chances of winning. Adding the Wild Ball to your play is optional, and can only be done at the time of purchase (not later).
What are the different ways to play?
There are several different ways to wager - Straight, Box, Straight/Box, Pairs or Combo - depending on how you want to try to match the winning numbers. See the
Ways to Play page for more details on each wager type.
How much can I win?
The maximum you can win for a single play is $25,000, if you place a $5 Straight wager and match the numbers in exact order. Go to the
Odds and PrizesOdds and Prizes page for all the payouts. The amount you can win is based on how much you wager, your play type and whether you pick a 4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way or 24-Way combination.
What does a 4-Way play mean?
For Box, Straight/Box and Combo wagers, a 4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way or 24-Way play refers to how many possible winning combinations there are for your selected digits. A 4-Way, for example, is a set of numbers that has three repeated digits and one that is unique, such as 1117. This can be arranged four different ways - 1117, 1171, 1711 and 7111. Visit the Ways to Play page for more examples.
What are the odds of winning?
The odds are different for each play type, but the chances of matching any four-digit number in exact order are 1 in 10,000.
Can I play in advance?
You can play your numbers for up to seven consecutive days.
Is there an age limit to play Pick 4?
You must be at least 18 years old to play Pick 4 in Connecticut?
Will my winnings be taxed?
Winnings up to $5,000 are not taxed. For larger amounts, 24 percent is withheld in federal taxes, and 6.99 percent in state taxes.
